  3. Welcome to the Simtel Windows CDROM!

  5. This CDROM contains the Simtel Windows Archives from the Internet site at
  6. ftp.cdrom.com.  Simtel for Windows has nearly 1000 programs to help you make
  7. better use of your Windows-based computer than ever!
  8.  
  9. With over 400MB of Windows 3.x and Windows 95 programs in various arenas
  10. like personal information management, graphics, and business, you'll be
  11. hard pressed not to find many useful things in this collection.

  13. We also include our friendly shell program to make it easy to access the
  14. many files on the disk.

  35. Quick Start Instructions:
  36.  
  37.   Windows 3.1/NT:
  38.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  39.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  40.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  41.  
  42.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  43.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  44.     Example:
  45.           C:\> D:
  46.           D:\> view
  47.  
  48.   Windows 95:
  49.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  50.     start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  51.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  52.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  53.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  55. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:
  56.  
  57. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  58. to view our disc.
  59.  
  60. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  61. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.
  62.  
  63. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:
  64.  
  65.         1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  66.         2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  67.         3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  68.         4) Click on OK
  69.  
  70. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 1.1 (Windows,
  71. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), Netscape 1.22 (Windows), Netscape 2.0b2,
  72. Mosaic 2.00 (Final Beta), and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  76. WinView and View

  78. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  79. for Windows, and the program VIEW for MSDOS on the CDROM.  These programs
  80. allow you to page through index files, browse through directories on the
  81. CD, view documentations and uncompress/install the program(s) you want
  82. onto your hard disk.

  88. This disk contains many shareware programs and images. Shareware can
  89. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  90. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
